We can't believe it's almost the end of January!! The good thing is that by this time your Christmas decorations should be boxed up and put away, (not judging if they're not yet) and you can now focus on the new year and what you want your space to look like. We have some fun new trends to report and we want to provide you with some easy ways to add these elements, without having to update your whole home. Here are our top five 2018 interior design trends:
1. Warm Wood Tones:
We are seeing a resurgence of warm medium toned wood elements throughout the home. We love wood interior doors, we're also seeing wood make it's way back into the kitchen with wood islands, open shelving, and wood vent hoods. Less white more warm :). Islands and vent hoods are big ticket items, but you can add this trend to your home by adding wood open shelving, doors, and wood coffee tables and end tables.
Subway tile holds a special place in our hearts, but we love how fun patterned tile is. We love seeing more patterned tile used as back-splash in kitchens, and also more elaborate tile on bathroom and kitchen floors. If the designs and colors are too risky for you, consider different design tile placements like herringbone pattern and fish scale.
It's no coincidence that Pantone named Ultra Violet the color of the year, deep rich colors are making a comeback. From jewel toned walls, to sultry colored couches. These colors add a hint of opulence to any space.
5. Decor that Speaks to Experiences and Personality:
Less simple and cookie cutter, more cultured and handmade. We know the minimalist style has been around for some time, but it's time to get all those knick knacks out of storage and include them in your decor. We believe this look can be executed in a clean, curated, and purposeful way. Do not return to your hoarding ways! Make your home speak your language, and allow people to get a glimpse of who you are and where you've been. Some open shelving and intentional placement is all you need.
